Movies-that-Move-Us

The movies moving us

If you tuned in to our Facebook Live session recently, you will have seen our founders Emma Seibold and Matt Kane talking about a cause that is so very important and close to the Barre Body team’s hearts. If you didn’t see the announcement, click here to view it.

While Barre Body has always been deeply committed to giving back, what spurred on our need to take action immediately was a moving, incredible film – Chasing Asylum. In the spirit of this, we thought we’d share three films that are on the top of our to-see list – to inspire us to make the world a better place.

Chasing Asylum
Chasing Asylum exposes the real impact of Australia’s offshore detention policies. The film features never before seen footage from inside Australia’s offshore detention camps, revealing the personal impact of sending those in search of a safe home to languish in limbo.  The film is moving and heartbreaking, as it explores the mental, physical and fiscal consequences of Australia’s decision to lock away families. It is a must-see.

Dream, Girl
For all the girl bosses out there, this one is for you. We know the names of Bill Gates, Steve Jobs, and Mark Zuckerberg. But what about the female entrepreneurs? What’s their story? From brand new startups to million dollar industries, this film explores how and why we tell girls they can be anything they want to be, and show them what it means to be a leader. Can’t wait for this one to hit screens!

What I Really, Really Want
This trailer will send any 90s girl straight into nostalgia, but even the Spice Girls’ tunes can’t hide the very important message. All about at taking action for women and girls around the world, we’re loving that the #WhatIReallyReallyWant hashtag is going viral.
