The Barre Body team’s top wellness tips

Our Barre Body teachers are a healthy bunch. They’re living, breathing inspiration for a healthy, beautiful life.

We asked the team for their top wellness tips, and it’s not all green juices and hours of exercise. In fact, there are some beautifully simple, wonderful tips for us all to incorporate into our days. Here’s what they had to say.

Amelia says, “To curb stress or a lack of motivation, I love to leave my phone at home and go for a walk in the world. Even in the heart of Brisbane city there are so many beautiful parks to sneak away to and get around some greenery. Plants and flowers are proven stress relievers and feeling the grass beneath your toes is so revitalizing! I love to have some living greens around the house to refresh my mood and the air in my apartment too.”

Natalie says, “My new favourite winter warming wellness activity is having a foot bath right before bedtime. It’s divine. And … it’s my time while my little one is asleep.”

Mikayla says, “I’ve started doing a little “wind up wind down” thing before and after work/teaching. On my commute to class I like to read a few quotes/listen to inspirational speakers or anything that gets me in a good positive frame of mind before class, then after work/teaching I like to listen to mediation music or anything relaxing to wind down.”

Emma says, “My focus at the moment is constantly coming back to mindful breathing, and learning to switch off! I’m creating a bed time routine – if I sleep better then I can function much better the next day.”

Kathryn says, “Get in tune with your body and its cycles and then, listen to it! Tired? Rest. In a rut? Make a list. Anxious? Breathe. Craving carbs? Eat a bowl of pasta.  BUT the getting in tune is the hard part. You first have to learn the difference between fatigue or melancholy; needing carbs or needing a hug; and other cyclical things like that before my period I can’t lift as much weight as the week after and need more sleep etc. I know a lot of people love a schedule/regimen but a lot of people also seem to burn out or beat themselves up about not sticking to a schedule that was never going to work! Be kind to yourself.”

Gabrielle says, “Having a bath is such a treat! I’ve been aiming for one each week, with a book in hand and of course, a smelly candle. It’s a great way to finish off a busy day.”

Kate says, “Catching a sunrise, especially over the water. Always a great start to the day, and makes me feel calm, super grateful and grounded.”

Gemma says, “Sleep! Whenever I’m feeling run down, stressed out or agitated I try to find a night when I can get a 9 hour sleep in. It doesn’t happen often, but when it does I wake up feeling like a different person. If I don’t have that kind of time, even a 15 minute afternoon nap helps.”

Mel says, “I sip on herbal teas pretty much all day. I love the Pukka Detox or something warning with cinnamon in winter. I’m with Gabrielle; I’ll have an Epsom salt bath a few times a week. Pretty addicted to baths!”

Tanya says, “Healr’s #RootedbyHealr inner healing definitely gets me over colds (first and only organic turmeric spice blend with dandelion root.) Plus cuddles! Genuine warm cuddles!

Courtney says, “Coming into winter, I love a golden turmeric latte. So warming and delicious, not to mention good for you!”

What beautiful tips! Do you have any to share? We’d love to hear about them below!
