Have you met our incredible Byron Bay studio manager? Body and soul sculpting are her teacher superpowers.

If power serenity was a thing, then Nicki Strugnell would be its poster girl, probably with a Paris filter. As members at our beautiful Bende studio in Byron Bay know, its popular manager is as passionate about your soul alignment as she is about sculpting beautiful bodies.

Nicky’s delicious new on-demand yoga program for Barre Body Online, called Connect and Unwind, features three restorative sessions – Flow (30 mins), Yin (30 mins) and Meditate (10 mins) – released as a weekly set each Sunday for the next month. They’re a dream complement to your more high-energy classes, help carve out important you-time, and make a pretty cute antidote to those 2020 blah vibes.

Here, Nicky shares some of her thoughts and best tips ahead of your class time together.

When it comes to having a favourite class style…

I’ve loved all of it through different stages of my life, as well as the seven years I’ve been teaching. I love the dynamic movement of barre, and the foundational appeal of mat Pilates, but truly have a deep connection to the holistic movement of yoga and meditation.

The best piece of wellness advice I’ve ever heard is…

“You are not your thoughts” from [the best-selling author of The Untethered Soul and The Surrender Experiment] Michael Singer. When I truly understood this, it changed my life.

I adore living in Byron Bay…

It’s such a special spot. I moved here for the second time two years ago to continue to live my dream and passion of teaching and cultivating inspiring relationships. I loved Sydney but am super happy to just visit there now.

This Connect + Unwind program…

is time and space to put aside to fill your cup, to enjoy the art of movement and the blessing of your body, and to sit in stillness and be with yourself in a grounded, guided and loving environment.

Of my many passions outside teaching…

I like cooking, champagne, nature and the ocean, deep embodiment work through many modalities is the biggest. Teaching and physical movement really feels like one small part of a bigger picture of what I live and breathe and share. I love being of service and holding space for people to witness their magic, dispel the perfection illusion, accept their shadows and embrace themselves as a complete package. That fills my cup immensely. It all comes down to loving and accepting yourself more and fine tuning your intuition. Sometimes we just need support and a guide along the way.
