Frequently asked questions

Here are some of the common questions we’re asked at Barre Body. If your question isn’t answered, please do contact us directly – we’d love to hear from you!

Can I use my pass/membership at all studios?

Yes! Our passes and memberships are valid at all studios.

I am a beginner, is that ok?

Yes, absolutely! You don’t need any previous barre, pilates or yoga experience to come to our classes. Your teacher will provide options to suit all levels.

How do I book a class?

1.  Go to the bookings page
2. Select your preferred studio from the drop down box
3. Choose your class
4. Click “book class” button
5. You will be transferred to mindbodyonline where you will need to create an account (username and password) if you are new to Barre Body. This will take 2mins.
6. Purchase your payment option.
7. Your class is booked and you will receive a confirmation email.

How many classes should I do per week? Can I come two days in a row?

Three is the magic number (and four is even better) when it comes to seeing good results from our barre classes, but if you are doing other exercise, then one or two is plenty. Yoga classes are beautiful on their own (as many as you would like to attend each week) and they are a great complement to our barre classes.

Can I pay for my class at the studio or should I pay online?

You can do either. It’s better for you if you book online as it guarantees your place in the class, but feel free pay at the studio if you prefer.

Do I need to book?

We definitely recommend booking classes online as some of our busier classes can book out in advance. If the class is waitlist only, please do put yourself on the waiting list as spaces often come up.

What happens if I book a class and don’t turn up or cancel at late notice?

If you “no show” or cancel within two hours of the class start time, you will be charged for the class as it often means another student is unable to attend. Members and two week intro pass holders will have their booking privileges suspended if they miss/late cancel two classes in any two week period. Please respect other students by only booking classes that you will definitely attend.

What should I wear?

Bare feet and comfortable clothing (like you would wear for a yoga or pilates class).

Is there a bathroom/shower/change room?

We have change rooms at all studios and we have showers at our Fitzroy and Bondi Junction studios. You won’t sweat too much so you will be able to go straight on with your day without a shower.

Can men do the classes?

Yes! We love guys in our classes! They find it very challenging and we’ve had lots of feedback that it’s a very complementary workout to other sports training.

I am pregnant. Can I come to classes?

Yes! We love pregnant ladies at Barre Body and our classes (with the exception of Detox Yoga at all times and Pilates Mat post 16 weeks). Your teacher will give you appropriate modifications and before coming to class you should watch the video below  which explains and outlines our pregnancy modifications. We also highly recommend our Prenatal Barre 1:1 sessions to learn modifications in-depth in a personal context. You may attend classes in the first trimester, but be a little more gentle with your body and avoid twisting poses that compress the belly. Barre Body classes are a fantastic way to prepare for labour (fitness + strong legs & butt are a big help during the contractions and active labour) and keep your body toned, making it much easier to regain your shape after bub is born.

Where is the best parking?

Flinders Lane

There are quite a few one hour car spaces nearby in Russell Street, Exhibition St and Flinders Street. For parking longer than one hour, try Spring Street between Flinders lane and Flinders St or Wellington Parade (continuation of Flinders Street, heading towards Richmond).

There is a free two hour car park directly across the road from our studio.

Parking is great in the morning (6.30am and 9.30am classes), but not so great in the evenings and weekends. If you’re planning on driving at those times, factor in an extra 15 minutes before your class so you can park a few blocks from the studio, perhaps on side streets off Nicholson Street or Smith Street.

Bondi Junction

Eastgate Shopping Centre (where Kmart, Coles & Harris Farm are located) is directly across the road from the studio (1 min walk) and parking is $1 for the first hour and $2 for 1-2 hours. Westfield is a 3 min walk and parking is free for the first 2 hours.

Surry Hills

There is metered two-hour parking on Cooper Street and surrounding streets for $4.40 per hour in peak times and $1.50 per hour in the evenings and on weekends. For free parking (but often hard to find), try Riley Street (about a 5 minute walk).

Can I bring my daughter/son?

Yes absolutely. As long as they are over 15 years of age.

How long are the classes?

Classes are 60 minutes, except lunch classes which are 50 minutes and express classes which are 40 minutes.
